Bra Care 101: How to Wash and Store Your Innerwear Properly

Good innerwear is an investment in daily comfort. A few gentle care habits go a long way toward keeping elastic springy, cups smooth, and lace looking new for many more wears.
Washing basics
- Hand wash when you can — Lukewarm water and mild detergent. Gently squeeze; never wring underwired bras.
- Machine wash (if needed) — Lingerie bag, cold/delicate cycle, mild liquid detergent. Fasten hooks so they do not snag other pieces.
- Skip fabric softener and bleach — Both weaken elastic and can damage delicate fibres.
Drying the right way
Air dry flat or hang by the centre gore — not by the straps, which can stretch. Keep bras away from harsh direct sunlight for long periods, and never tumble-dry underwired or foam-cup styles. Heat collapses padding and kills stretch.
How to store bras
- Store bras upright in a drawer row; nest cups gently if space is tight — avoid crushing foam cups flat under heavy stacks.
- Do not leave bras balled up in a gym bag for days.
- Rotate pairs so one favourite is not worn every single day.
Panty care tips
Wash similar colours together, avoid high heat, and replace pieces with loose elastic or thinning fabric. Breathable cotton styles especially appreciate gentle cycles and thorough drying before you put them away.
Care well, and your everyday set stays supportive and soft.
